Two men and a woman take handbags and purses from the Skokie Boulevard store – Chicago Tribune

The following is taken from Northbrook Police Department reports, press releases and records. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.


Edmundo Vega of Libertyville was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use on September 2. Police stopped Vega near the intersection of Hawthorn and Appletree lanes after observing him driving on the median. He failed a field sobriety test. He was released on bail and is due in Cook County Court on October 11 in Skokie.


Art Shipulan of Northbrook was charged with improper transportation of cannabis and speeding on September 2. Police stopped Shipulan after seeing him driving at 80mph in a 40mph zone near the intersection of Dundee and Pfingsten roads. After arresting him, police found a jar containing a green leafy substance that Shipulan said was cannabis. He was released on bail and is due in Cook County Court on October 11 in Skokie.


A person reported on September 8 that they left their bicycle on school grounds in the 1000 block of Maple Street on September 2. When the person returned, the bicycle was not there.

Retail workers in the 100 block of Skokie Blvd. said two men and a woman entered the store asking to see items inside a display case. Once the case was opened, the two men and the woman took several purses and purses as they left the store without paying on September 4.


One person said they received a phone call on September 4 from someone they said worked for an established company. The individual asked her to buy gift cards to pay the fees. After providing personal information, including social security number and driver’s license photo, the person realized the call was a scam.
